Coherence Consulting

What to Expect

You have made a positive decision in turning to someone else for help with your self-improvement. Making this decision may be the biggest hurdle that you face.

Your initial consultation will be free of charge. We will use this time to understand what you are hoping to accomplish and why you are doing so now. I will get a sense of who you are; you will get a sense of who I am. And we both should get a sense of how we will work together.

I will listen carefully and use all of my experience and knowledge. All of our communications are strictly confidential. This work requires a process that is respectful, I will listen carefully, I will use all of my knowledge to try and figure out how I can best be of help to you. I will have plenty of questions and I am sure that you will also. Our job is to clarify what you are wanting to accomplish and for me to explain what I perceive you are asking of me so that you can determine how well I am listening and formulating a plan for moving forward.

As we go along, I will help you to identify your goals, strengths, vulnerabilities, and your patterns in relationships. Throughout our work I will help you to put things together so that your decisions and direction will become more coherent and attainable.

There is something that I think it is important for you to understand about how this process works. There is plenty of expertise out there. There are seminars to help one be better at time management, for example. There are all kinds of seminars, videos and books about self-improvement. If they work for you, that is great. And, you are fortunate because the vast majority of these efforts don’t produce lasting change. While I have plenty of experience and expertise that helps a great deal, what matters in really making lasting progress with your goals and your difficulties is the working relationship you have with your life coach, therapist, or advisor. Our job is to learn to communicate with each other in the most effective ways. It is a two way street: we both provide feedback that enhances our understanding and the process of implementing change. Then the changes will be long lasting.
